Preview Friday: LexisNexis goes to Hollywood

“In the future everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes,” as Andy Warhol once said. Perhaps under this era of humanized brands even businesses are granted a moment or two of fame as well.

LexisNexis earned its moment recently with a new movie-based on television series called “Veronica Mars” — as depicted in a nearby HBO preview.  The crime-solving plot is reminiscent of the novice sleuth depicted in classic Nancy Drew books.

“Your name popped up on LexisNexis in cases ranging from multiple homicides to dog-napping. What do you think that says about a person?” says actress Jamie Lee Curtis in a preview for the show which is embedded nearby.

The original television series, which ran from 2004 to 2007, was transformed into a movie and later broadcast on HBO.

It’s reasonable to believe the preview or movie isn’t an endorsement, but then on the other hand, it’s not a paid placement either.  A mention by Hollywood doesn’t happen often so it was pretty neat to see this happen.  Fingers crossed for “best supporting product” category at next year’s Academy.

Correction: An earlier version of this post mistakenly referred to the movie as a television series. Sorry.
